.DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES:
- Windy day Friday in wake of a cold front.
- Warming trend begins soon after with warmest days Sunday and Monday. Then cooling starting Tuesday.
- Models are slowly starting to increase agreement on precipitation by next week.
WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Omega block over the western states has allowed for near record warmth again across the area today. But a cold front will drop southeast through the area Friday morning with strong NW winds in it`s wake. Speeds look to be about 15 to 25 with gusts to 35 mph over Fort Pack Lake, so have issued a Lake Wind Advisory, from 6 am till 6 pm.
Upper low remains in place over southern California with ridge rebounding across the plains into the weekend. Early next week an Alaska low begins to dig a trough off the west coast, with the California low weakening and lifting through the southwest flow aloft. With the lack of the blocking feature and the western trough moving onshore, moisture could increase enough for precipitation by the end of the forecast period.
A cooling trend can be expected starting Tuesday as more clouds enter the picture.
FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Increased winds with a mix of the NBM and NBM 90 for Day 2. Followed NBM for the remainder of the forecast. TFJ
