- Frost and freeze warnings in effect this morning for the Arco/Mud Lake Desert and Snake River Plain with widespread below freezing temperatures during the early morning hours.

- Warming trend will continue throughout the week, with daytime temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above normal through Friday.

- Precipitation and colder temperatures return Friday through the weekend.

Will have clear skies and very warm conditions today through Thursday with well above normal temperatures. Highs today will be mainly in the 60s to lower 70s with overnight lows mainly 30s and 40s. Do not expect any freeze warnings to be issued tonight with most of the Snake Plain above freezing. Thursday will be the warmest day of the week with strong southwesterly flow aloft and high temperatures in low elevations in the mid to upper 70s. and mountain highs in the 60s to lower 70s. Lows Thursday night in the 40s to lower 50s valleys and 30s to 40s mountains. Will be breezier Thursday with afternoon wind gusts in the 15 to 25 mph range out of the south.

.LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/... Issued at 139 AM MDT Wed Oct 8 2025

Upper level low will begin to push east with strong southwesterly flow aloft pushing moisture into southeast Idaho and a return of showers to the region on Friday. High temperatures will remain above normal mainly in the 60s mountains and 70s valleys. A cold front will move through Saturday with significant cooling and showers continuing. Highs will be in the 40s and 50s. Will have breezy conditions in the Snake River Plain with gusts 20 to 30 mph. Snow levels drop to the 5 to 6 thousand foot range Sunday and Sunday night so expect some light accumulations Saturday night through Sunday night in the higher elevations of the central mountains and eastern highlands. Highs Sunday in the upper 30s to lower 40s mountains and mid to upper 40s valleys. High temperatures will remain in the 40s and 50s Monday through Wednesday with the chance of rain and high elevation snow showers continuing.

Clear skies continue through tonight. Will have some southwest winds in the 10 knot range at PIH, IDA and DIJ this afternoon.

Will have mainly clear skies and very warm conditions today and Thursday with the chance for showers returning Friday. Will see a cold frontal passage Saturday with much colder conditions and a significant drop in temperatures with a chance for showers into next week with the colder temperatures continuing. Snow levels will drop to the 5 to 6 thousand foot level Sunday through Sunday night with some light accumulations in high elevations. Expect breezier conditions Friday into Saturday with winds southerly Friday shifting to a more southwesterly direction Saturday behind the cold frontal passage.
