.DISCUSSION... Issued at 252 AM CDT Thu Sep 25 2025

Today through tomorrow a surface ridge of high pressure will dominate the area keeping conditions tranquil although, it will be a catalyst for some areas of fog this morning. Today, a upper level trough with a closed low will move into the west coast and will slowly dig south across California through Saturday. This feature will allow upstream upper level ridging to build into the eastern Rockies/western Plains today. Although the local area will not come under direct influence of the ridge, height rises will be realized locally, which will aid in highs rising into the mid to upper 70s. Height rise will continue across the area Friday as the ridge moves into the Plains states with highs in the lower 80s. The area will then be under the control of the upper level ridge through the weekend with the ridge axis moving directly over the area on Sunday. Highs Saturday will be in the low to mid 80s with highs rising into the mid 80s CWA-wide on Sunday, which is about 10 degrees above normal.

Monday and Tuesday the upper level low over southern California will develop into an open wave and move out into the central Rockies. However, it will weaken as it does, and the upper level ridge will continue to hold over the area. Highs Monday and Tuesday will be in the low to mid 80s. The upper level ridge is then forecast to remain entrenched over the area through very late next week or even next weekend. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will remain in the low to mid 80s with dry conditions prevailing.
