&&

.SHORT TERM... (This afternoon through Thursday) Issued at 1254 PM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025

General upper level ridging from over Texas to Louisiana and then a deepening trough over the east coast will move eastward which should keep the area dry outside of a stray shower on land today. Today and tomorrow will still be above average with highs in the upper 80s, but a cool front moves southward into the area which should help bring in cooler and drier air for the next few days. Land areas should stay dry on Thursday with any rain chances pushed offshore.

&&

.LONG TERM... (Thursday night through Tuesday) Issued at 1254 PM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025

Upper level ridge will eventually settle right on top of Louisiana. Dry and cooler conditions continue through at least the weekend into early next week. Temperatures will be cooler than what we have been seeing with highs in the low 80s with the lows generally being in the 60s. Humidity will also be lower with it maxing out in the 60s or even the high 50s in southwest Mississippi.

&&

.AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1254 PM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025

Generally VFR conditions is forecast for all terminals for the forecast period. There is a low chance of a stray shower or storm but the chances are so low left it out. No fog is expected tomorrow morning as a front will move through the area late tonight into early tomorrow.

&&

.MARINE... Issued at 1148 AM CDT Wed Oct 8 2025

High pressure off the Atlantic Coast and low pressure over the southern Gulf will tighten the pressure gradient again over the coastal waters. Small Craft Exercise Caution headlines will be in effect during the day and tomorrow for northeasterly winds 15 to 20 knots. A frontal boundary moving into the waters tonight and Thursday may necessitate a Small Craft Advisory for at least part of the waters Thursday and especially Friday. Some improvement in wind and wave conditions could occur on Saturday over the protected waters, but perhaps not until Sunday over the outer waters.
