   early next week.
- Next chance for rain/storms late Saturday night into Sunday
   across portions of western Oklahoma and perhaps western
   sections of north Texas.

The weather pattern continued to be dominated by the upper ridge
over the southern Plains and the associated warm weather. We will
see some cumulus this afternoon, especially in the east and south,
and some cirrus, but no significant weather is expected.

A longwave trough across the western United States shifts slowly
east toward the Rocky Mountain region Saturday. Through the day
Saturday it remains too far west for us to see any significant
precipitation chances, but it does push the upper ridge east of
us - and so high temperatures on Saturday may be a degree or two
lower with slightly lower heights and thicknesses over the area.
This approaching trough will aid in the development over the
High Plains on Saturday afternoon, and some of these storms will
approach western portions of the forecast area late Saturday
night. The trough then ejects into the central and northern
Plains taking much of the lift north with it, so thunderstorms
will remain possible in the in the west as this trough ejects, but
we do not expect the storm chances to spread too far east.

At least some weaker ridging aloft will move back in next week,
keeping afternoon temperatures from getting below the upper 80s.
Medium range models would suggest a breakdown of the ridge by
midweek, with additional rain chances possible across much of the
area.

Light south winds expected overnight with mainly clear skies.
south to southwest winds will increase some Saturday morning with
gusts over 20kts possible across the west. Likely to see
increasing high clouds tomorrow morning that will linger through
the day with some high-based cu as well.
