Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Cleveland OH 133 AM EDT Sun Sep 28 2025

.SYNOPSIS... High pressure persists overhead before a weak cold front sinks south across the lower Great Lakes on Sunday. Strong Canadian high pressure will build south over the Great Lakes through the middle of the week before building east towards the Northeast by the end of the week.

&&

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TODAY/... Quiet weather continues through the near term as high pressure persists over the lower Great Lakes. Patchy fog will be possible again across eastern zones overnight tonight given lingering low-level moisture coupled with light winds. Above normal low temperatures tonight settle in the mid to upper 50s. A weak but dry cold front will cross the region on Sunday. High temperatures on Sunday are expected to rise into the upper 70s to mid 80s under a mostly sunny sky. Slightly cooler low temperatures on Sunday night as they settle in the low to mid 50s. Lows in the upper 40s will be possible across higher terrain locations in Northwest Pennsylvania.

&&

.SHORT TERM /TONIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT/... Canadian high pressure will build southeast towards the local area by the beginning of next week. Dry conditions and above normal temperatures remain through the short term with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s expected each afternoon. Overnight lows settle in the low to mid 50s each night, mid 40s across Northwest Pennsylvania.

&&

.LONG TERM /WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY/... Dry weather persists under high pressure but cooler and breezy conditions are expected through the long term. High temperatures return to near-normal values in the mid 60s to lower 70s Wednesday and Thursday. Slightly warmer Friday and Saturday with highs in the upper 70s under southerly return flow as the high exits to the east. Chilliest nights of the week will be Wednesday and Thursday night as low temperatures fall into the low to mid 40s. Typical cold spots in Northwest Pennsylvania could drop as low as the upper 30s. Concern for any frost potential remains low at this time given elevated wind speeds overnight.

&&

.AVIATION /06Z Sunday THROUGH Thursday/... VFR conditions are anticipated through the TAF period. Patchy fog may develop across inland NE OH and NW PA early this morning, but any restricted visibilities should remain to the south of TAF sites. Fog may begin to develop at inland terminals after 03Z Monday, but currently thinking visibility restrictions should hold off until after the TAF period. Winds will be light and variable inland with a period of north/northwest winds developing at KERI/KCLE this afternoon into early this evening.

Outlook...Mainly VFR conditions are expected through Thursday.

&&

.MARINE... Onshore flow around 10 knots or less will develop today and persist through Monday. Canadian high pressure will build southeast into the northeastern CONUS Tuesday through late week, resulting in increasing northeast winds Tuesday through Wednesday. Winds will likely reach 20 to 25 knots Tuesday night through Wednesday night and the likelihood of a Small Craft Advisory is very high during this time. Waves may take a bit to subside in the western basin as east/northeast winds diminish to 10 to 15 knots on Thursday.
