.DISCUSSION... (Tonight through next Tuesday) Issued at 1119 PM CDT Tue Sep 30 2025

A pesky upper level ridge will meander over southeast CONUS for the next several days, allowing afternoon highs to climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s. Despite dewpoints increasing to the mid 60s today, dry air aloft will keep the Mid-South dry through the end of the week.

By Friday, the aforementioned ridge will weaken as it broadens over the eastern United States. Temperatures this upcoming weekend will be a few degrees cooler in response, but a noticeable cooldown is not anticipated. Instead, the greater thing to watch this weekend is the potential for an upper level low to form near the TX/LA coast. If this system does develop, a surge in moisture will impact the Mid-South by Monday. Increased rain chances will accompany the elevated moisture, but given the large amount of uncertainty kept PoPs around 20 percent for the beginning of next week.

.AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1121 PM CDT Tue Sep 30 2025

High pressure aloft and at the surface will bring continued VFR and light winds to the Midsouth TAF sittes. No significant changes planned for the 06Z TAFs.

.FIRE WEATHER... Issued at 1119 PM CDT Tue Sep 30 2025

Light 20ft winds and MinRH values above 40 percent will keep fire weather concerns minimal through the end of the work week. However, prolonged dry conditions will worsen fuel moisture by this weekend. Expect fire danger to increase through early next week.
