Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio TX 107 AM CDT Mon Sep 15 2025

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Above normal afternoon high temperatures continue this week.

- Low chances for rain and storms Thursday-Saturday but most will likely remain dry.

&&

.SHORT TERM (THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT)...

On Monday, weak mid-level ridging will strengthen over the region, but influences from a westward moving 700mb inverted trough may spark a shower or two over the Coastal Plains in the afternoon and early evening. Large scale ridging should still act to suppress much of any convection from this trough and afternoon highs will again climb into the mid 90s. Tuesday looks dry for all locations as high pressure remains in control. Expect highs in the mid 90s once again.

&&

.LONG TERM (WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY)...

By midweek, a long wave trough will dive southward out of the Rockies into the High Plains. There should be just enough mid- level lift and influence from this trough for some showers and storms to develop, albeit rather sparsely, across the region Thursday-Saturday. Weak divergence aloft and decent surface moisture will result in this activity developing each afternoon during peak daytime heating. Temperatures will remain above normal for mid to late September, in the mid 90s. There is still no sign of our first true Fall cold front, so for the foreseeable future, expected warmer than normal temperatures.

&&

.AVIATION (06Z MONDAY THROUGH TUESDAY)...

VFR flying conditions prevail overnight through Monday night. HREF has less than 10 percent for MVFR CIGs and moisture profiles agree. Maintained FEW-SCT010-025 for early Monday morning and introduced for late Monday night. ISOLD SHRA may approach the I-35 sites early Monday evening. However, PROBS are too to mention. S to SE winds prevail with the strongest winds 7 to 14 KTS late morning through evening.
