.DISCUSSION... (Today through next Thursday)
WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Cool morning temperatures continue today with lows in the 40s. Some valley areas such as Ruby Valley, Clover Valley, and White River Valley will see temperatures in the 30s before sunrise. High temperatures today will be in the 70s to 80s. By Friday and through the weekend, temperatures are expected to stay in the 70s with overnight lows in the 40s (50s for Humboldt County until Sunday). Tropical low pressure system over southern California will move in Nevada this afternoon, bringing in an increase in cloud cover with a 10-20% chance of showers across central Nevada. Friday, the tropical system continues to move slowly, extending into northern Nevada, with chances of rain up to 20% along I-80 corridor. For central Nevada Friday, chances of rain showers up to 40-55% with a 35% chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon. By Saturday, the system begins to destabilize, however lingering moisture in the air will give a 15-30% chance for rain showers over eastern Nevada, while drier air moves in from the west. By Sunday, zonal flow strengthens over Nevada, bringing in mostly sunny skies. The zonal flow will bring in a gradual increase in temperatures Monday and Tuesday reaching back into the 80s. By Wednesday, models are showing an off-cut-low pushing into Nevada, however there is uncertainty on the strength and timing of the system. Northwesterly flow from this system will cool temperatures again, putting highs into the 70s.
FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: No changes to the grids at this time. Greater confidence of Saturday and Sunday POPs with respect to chances for rain showers. Uncertainty with the position and strength of the off-cut-low moving into Nevada on Wednesday.
