.NEAR TERM... (Rest of Today and Tonight) Issued at 1100 AM CDT Fri Oct 10 2025
No impactful weather expected in the near term with dry conditions anticipated today and just few/scattered mid/high clouds at times. A shortwave riding generally southward along the western flank of the East CONUS trough is instigating shower/storm development in the Missouri Valley at present. That activity is expected to remain well to our west, but tend to dissipate today as it encounters increasingly less favorable dynamics/instability in areas southward. Some mid/high clouds streaming eastward from this weakening complex will move across the area today, but that`s about all. Winds could get briefly gusty at times mainly in southern portions of the area today with a tighter pressure gradient apparent in analyses there. However, gusts may only be up to ~15 mph. Later tonight, patchy fog could form in the typically favored low-lying areas, and in areas where soil moisture tends to be higher...at present, this is in NE portions of the area and in some areas scattered around NW AL, however, significant fog development does not appear likely.

.SHORT TERM... (Saturday through Monday) Issued at 1100 AM CDT Fri Oct 10 2025
Not much change is expected through the weekend and into Monday as the mid/upr trough remains in the East Coast while a shortwave may tend to become partially closed off farther to our SE. This will keep generally lgt N-NE flow across the area and a continuation of dry conditions across the area. Temperatures will tend to be near seasonal norms through the period.

.LONG TERM... (Monday through Thursday) Issued at 948 PM CDT Thu Oct 9 2025
Heading into next week, the upper level ridge to our west amplifies and shifts eastward kicking the trough off the East Coast. High pressure over the western Gulf Coast will keep the persistent dry weather going for the Tennessee Valley through the end of the long term period on Thursday. With a more westerly flow pattern aloft, a gradual warmup is forecast with afternoon highs returning to the lower 80s Monday through Thursday. Overnight lows will also warm back up towards the mid to upper 50s by the middle of next week.
