.SHORT TERM... (Today through Saturday) Issued at 628 AM EDT Fri Oct 10 2025
Coastal low off the Georgia Atlantic coast will be the main driving factor for any shower development today. CAMs are suggesting showers could reach into southeast central Georgia and further northwestward but ultimately should stay confined to the fall line and southward. Wind gusts of 20-25mph will continue into this afternoon before tapering off into the overnight with partly cloudy skies clearing out as well. The only real change made was to increase rain chances over the southeastern portion of central Georgia into the afternoon to account for the better agreement in CAMs guidance. With increased chances for rain and overall mostly cloudy to overcast skies expected over the southern third of the CWA, decided to lower the max Ts in this area to top out at 70 instead of the mid 70s. Based off latest guidance, temps will struggle to get above 70s today for that area but the remainder of the area should stay in the low to mid 70s for highs with less cloud cover the further north you go.
Expecting the coastal low to push northeastward along the Atlantic coast tomorrow which will limit rain chances to the far southeastern counties of central Georgia with rain chances less than 10% over this area. As a result, cloud cover will also push further northeastward allowing the high pressure to fully settle into place and limit cloud cover and thus start our warming trend with highs in the mid to upper 70s across the area. Lows continue to remain in the mid 50s for much of the area through Saturday night with lows in the 40s over the northern portions of the area.

.LONG TERM... (Saturday night through Thursday) Issued at 628 AM EDT Fri Oct 10 2025
Temperatures will be back on the rise starting early on Sunday after a several day stretch of more fall-like conditions. Ensemble guidance is in agreement regarding a stout mid-/upper-level ridge parking over the southern and central CONUS by early next week, promoting increasing temperatures and dry conditions across north and central Georgia. Given this synoptic pattern, the long term period brings essentially no rain chances and ample sunshine. As a result, maintenance and/or expansion of Moderate Drought (D1) conditions and Severe Drought (D2) conditions across parts of western Georgia, central Georgia, and the Atlanta metro area are likely in the week ahead.&&
