.SHORT TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/... Issued at 329 AM EDT Mon Sep 29 2025
Conditions are clear and calm this morning. A sprawling area of sfc high pressure remains over the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes. Persistent ridging aloft lingers over the Midwest and MS Valley. This pattern, coupled with a dry column, will yield another spectacular day.
Temperatures will continue to settle into the mid/upper 50s early this morning, with warmer spots near 60 F. NE winds will increase to 10-15 mph this afternoon as mixing deepens to 6-7 kft. A few afternoon cu will be possible, but mainly clear skies are likely through the short term period. Temperatures appear likely to overachieve slightly again today, so expect afternoon highs in the mid/upper 80s. Tonight will be pleasant with mostly clear skies, light winds, and lows in the mid 50s to around 60.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... Issued at 329 AM EDT Mon Sep 29 2025
Mid and upper level ridging will still be anchored over the Midwest and MS Valley on Tuesday. By this time, NHC expects Tropical Storm Imelda to take a slightly faster turn to the northeast away from the United States. The ridge aloft then slowly builds east across the eastern CONUS during mid to late week. During this time, strong sfc high pressure over Canada slides southeast over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
We still expect multiple days of fair weather here in central KY and southern IN. Relatively low humidity will yield pleasant mornings and warm afternoons. Highs in the low to mid 80s will be common, with morning lows in the low to mid 50s.
The weekend also looks beautiful with high pressure lingering near the East Coast. A cold front may push southeast through portions of the Plains and Upper Midwest, but will not approach the forecast area.

.AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 18Z TUESDAY/... Issued at 651 AM EDT Mon Sep 29 2025
VFR conditions are expected at the terminals for the upcoming TAF period. High pressure is positioned north of the region through the day, and NE winds are forecast to increase to around 10 kt during peak heating/mixing. Occasional gusts closer to 15 kt are also possible. A few afternoon cumulus are possible, but overall, mainly SKC through this forecast period.
